A directory of products designed or produced in Europe, where every claim has a source and a date, and the score tells you how much of the claim is actually backed up.
There is no shortage of “buy European” lists. Most are a single yes-or-no column: a product is European, or it is not. That column hides everything worth knowing. A Dutch phone assembled in Asia and a German pan forged in Germany both get a tick. A browser founded in Oslo keeps its tick years after control moved abroad. A SaaS product incorporated in Berlin keeps it while running entirely on a US hyperscaler.
The interesting question is not is it European but which part of it is, and how do you know. So this directory splits the question into criteria that can be evidenced separately — manufacturing, design, ownership, hosting, jurisdiction — and scores each one only when a dated source backs it.
The second problem with directories is that they rot. Entries are written once and never revisited, which is how a list stays confidently wrong for years. Here every source carries the date it was read, its weight decays as it ages, and stale records are flagged on their own pages rather than quietly aging in place.
What this is not
- Not a review site. We do not rate how good things are. The quality score only counts commitments a maker publishes — warranty, spare parts, support windows, independent certification.
- Not a shop. There are no affiliate links, no tracking and no sponsored placements. Outbound links carry
rel="nofollow". - Not a political project. “EU-ness” here is a measurable property of a supply chain and a cap table, nothing more. What you do with the number is your business.
How it is built
The whole site is self-contained: a Next.js application and a folder of JSON files, with no database, no CMS and no third-party services at runtime. Not even a web font is loaded from elsewhere — a site about digital sovereignty that made every visitor call a US CDN would be a poor advertisement for the idea.
The scoring rubric is code, the content is data, and both live in the same public repository. Any score on this site can be recomputed from the sources shown on the page.
