Swiss cutler based in Ibach, canton of Schwyz, where Karl Elsener opened a knife cutler's workshop in 1884 and created the original Swiss Army Knife in 1897. The company describes itself as an independent family company; its share capital is held 90 % by the Victorinox Foundation and 10 % by the non-profit Carl and Elise Elsener-Gut Foundation.
