Fairphone 5

by Fairphone ยท ๐Ÿ‡ณ๐Ÿ‡ฑ Netherlands

The Fairphone 5 is a modular smartphone whose battery, screen, cameras and ports can be replaced with a standard screwdriver, with spare parts sold directly by the maker. Fairphone publishes its supplier list and reports on living wages at its assembly partners. It is a useful test of our own rubric: the design and the company are firmly Dutch, but final assembly happens in Asia, and the score says so.
