Qwant is a search engine developed in France and operated by Qwant SAS, a company registered in Paris. Qwant says it does not store users' search history and does not resell their data. Part of what it returns comes from its own crawl of the web, part from Staan, a technology from European Perspective — the entity Qwant co-founded with Ecosia — and part from sources supplied by Microsoft under a technology partnership. Qwant's privacy policy states that pseudonymised query data, and in some cases the full IP address, is passed to Microsoft, and its AI chat runs open-source models hosted in Groq's data centres.
